Dennis M. Reardon, Member At-Large
Dennis M. Reardon retired from the Ohio Education Association (OEA) in December, 2008, where he served as executive director since 2001. Prior to being named executive director, Mr. Reardon worked as executive manager of program delivery and associate executive director for OEA.
During his tenure at OEA, Mr. Reardon had the opportunity to advocate for a number of issues to improve Ohio’s education system, including building partnerships to align public schools, colleges and universities to meet the demands of the 21st century. He served as OEA’s representative to the Ohio Transformational Dialogue for Public Education and the Partnership for the 21st Century and was instrumental in establishing the Ohio Appalachian Teacher Leadership Initiative.
Mr. Reardon’s past professional activities include the American Society of Association Executives; the Great Lakes Center for Education Research and Practice, where he was a member of the board of directors; and the National Council of State Education Associations.
Mr. Reardon earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and received his Masters Degree from American University in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Mr. Reardon is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
As an at-large member of the State Board of Education, Mr. Reardon was appointed by Governor Ted Strickland in 2009. He currently serves on the Capacity Committee, Executive Committee, Budget Committee (chair), 21st Century Learning Subcommittee, EMIS Advisory Board, the National Governor’s Association Career-Technical Education Policy Academy and State Regional Alliance Advisory Board. His term expires on Dec. 31, 2012.
