Kristen E. McKinley, District 6

Kristen E. McKinley is a staff attorney for the Ohio Association of Public School Employees. She began her law career as an assistant attorney general for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office in the Court of Claims Defense Section, and previously served as a trial attorney for the Nationwide Enterprise Trial Division.

Ms. McKinley is licensed to practice law in the U.S. Supreme Court, Pennsylvania and Ohio Supreme Courts and the U.S. District Courts, Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association, the Central Ohio Association for Justice, the American Inns of Court and the OSU Pro Bono Guardian Ad Litem Project.

Ms. McKinley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with concentrations in managerial and labor economics, and competition and public policy. She earned her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University.

As the State Board member from District 6, Ms. McKinley represents Franklin County. She currently serves on the Capacity Committee (co-chair), Advocacy and Outreach Subcommittee and Budget Committee. She was also elected to serve a two year term on the National Association of School Boards of Education Board of Directors beginning January 1, 2010. Her term ends on Dec. 31, 2012.
