Michael L. Collins, District 9

Michael L. Collins is a marketing executive with experience directing regional events including First Night Columbus, WaterFire Columbus, Red, White & Boom, the Columbus Marathon and the Columbus Race for the Cure. He currently serves as president of Promotions One, Inc. and has previously held roles as vice president of Collins Studios, Inc. and marketing consultant for organizations such as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Prevent Blindness America.

As an education advocate, Mr. Collins has served as a member and president of the Westerville City Schools Board of Education; a member of the Westerville City Schools liaisons, business operations, student activities, levy campaigns and long range planning committees; and chairman of the Westerville City Schools Levy Campaign. Additionally, Mr. Collins is a former director of the Center for Community and Educational Planning at The Ohio State University, the Center for Community Education at the Ohio Department of Education and the Community Education Program of the Elmira City School District.

Mr. Collins is an active community member, serving organizations such as the Westerville Chamber of Commerce, Westerville Rotary Club, Westerville Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, Columbus Events Council, Metro Denver Health and Wellness Commission and various committees for the Ohio School Boards Association. He has also volunteered as a coach for youth football and wrestling.

As the State Board member from District 9, Mr. Collins represents Athens, Coshocton, Delaware, Fairfield, Guernsey, Hocking, Knox, Licking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Morrow, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, part of Ashland Pickaway, Richland and Washington counties. His term ends on Dec. 31, 2012.
